Cityscape Show in the City

AD Magazine Interview

I'm thrilled to announce my Architectural Digest Magazine interview, discussing my "California Cool" exhibit at La Fiambrera Gallery Madrid!  As a fan of AD for years, I'm so honored to be included in this periodical I hold in such high regards. Opening Night

A big thank you to everyone who made it out to the opening reception of my California Cool exhibit at La Fiambrera Gallery, Madrid.  It was an amazing night, meeting new fans and talking about the "California Style" with a receptive audience.  A huge thank you goes out to gallery management and staff for making everything look so professional and smooth.  It was an absolute pleasure and I look forward to a return visit soon!

California Cool, Madrid

California Cool, my first international solo exhibit, will be opening up in just over two weeks at La Fiambrera Gallery in Madrid, Spain.  This series of paintings, drawings, and prints aims to bring some touchstones of midcentury California style - architecture, design, car culture - to Europe.  From Los Angeles's iconic Theme Building to the Butterfly Roof tract homes of Palm Springs, this exhibit will showcase how the West Coast developed not just a signature aesthetic, but a culture of "cool."

Eichler Love

I was just cruising through a tract of beautiful Eichler homes the other day - the Balboa Highlands located in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.  Built by developer Joseph Eichler between 1962-64, these striking homes were an attempt to bring Modernism to the masses.  I grew up not too far from this tract, so over the years, I've been able to see the neighborhood come back and really be revitalized.  I did this painting back in 2008, but like the home itself, I "freshened it up" a year ago.  Still available, please contact me about "Eichler Carport Interior 2," oil on canvas, 36x48."

Art Palm Springs

"Modern Society" Exhibit

I'm proud to announce my latest exhibition at the George Billis Gallery NYC, titled "Modern Society."  This series continues my exploration into midcentury architecture and design found in New York City, but focuses on the cultural centers and glamorous institutions that signaled its strength – and enchantment – in the 1950s and 60s. Covering such bewitching landmarks as Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim, and 5th Avenue stalwart Bergdorf Goodman, this series delves into how high design from this groundbreaking Modern period shaped metropolitan society and reinforced New York as a cultural capital.

"Modern Leisure" Exhibit Coming Up

We're one week away from the opening reception of my latest solo show, titled "Modern Leisure," debuting April 8th, 5-8pm at the George Billis Gallery Los Angeles.  This brand new series dives into the mid-century leisure culture that was - and still is - prevalent in Southern California. Focusing on the sunny mid-century architecture and design found in the region, the work covers the vacation homes, the swimming pools, and the classic cars that helped give California its "cool." From Palm Springs to Los Angeles, and points in between, this series of paintings will be a return to the suburban post-war pop culture that first opened up my work to the gallery world.

The exhibition will be up through May 13th.

Modern Leisure Solo Show Opens April 8th

I'm pleased to announce that my next solo show, titled "Modern Leisure," opens April 8th, 5-8pm at the George Billis Gallery Los Angeles.  This show will focus on the sunny mid-century architecture and design found throughout Southern California.  From Palm Springs Alexander tracts to Los Angeles Eichler homes, this series will be a return to the suburban post-war culture that I started out painting.

Limited Edition Print Release

Please join me on February 16-19th at the Art Palm Springs art fair!  I'll be showing new work with the George Billis Gallery and on Saturday the 18th at 2:30pm, we'll be releasing a limited edition print of my painting Butterfly Roof and Inner Tube.  This beautiful reproduction is printed on acid-free matte paper using archival inks.  Paper dimension is 21x28", print dimension is 17x24", priced at $200, this is a limited edition of only 75.  Come out for the signing and say hello!

LA Weekly Feature

A couple weeks back, my painting "LAX Theme Building - Ground Level" was used for the cover of LA Weekly, one of LA's prominent news and culture publications.  I'm proud to have this honor, but especially proud that my artwork was used in an article discussing the current state of Modern architecture conservation efforts.  You might still be able to find some copies on newsstands near you, but otherwise, read the full article here: LA Weekly.
