"Afternoon Pit Stop," oil on panel, 24x30," 2025
Last May, my family and I rented a camper van and toured the magnificent National Parks of Utah and Arizona: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, and Monument Valley among others. I kept thinking how striking these destinations must have been for the first automobile travelers, driving in their Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles, staying at roadside motels in those early days of the interstate highway system. I thought what a cool series that would make: a Midcentury National Park Roadtrip.
